John Edwards

John Edwards (b. 1964) s a true virtuoso whose staggering range of techniques and boundless musical imagination have redefined the possibility of the double bass and dramatically expanded its role, whether playing solo or with others. Perpetually in demand, he has played with Evan Parker, Sunny Murray, Derek Bailey, John Wall, Joe McPhee, Lol Coxhill, and many others. John Edwards is part of London Improvisation Orchestra, with Paul Lovens and trombonist Paul Hubweber he forms the trio PaPaJo, and with John Butcher and Mark Sanders he forms the trio The Last Dream OF The Morning. Since 1995, John Edwards has been one of the most active musicians on the London scene, playing between 150 and 200 gigs in the course of a year.
