Lázara Rosell Albear
Lázara Rosell Albear is a Belgian-Cuban artist and graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK, Ghent), and co-founder of MahaWorks. Her practice combines sound research, performance, film, drawing, and installation. Her work focuses on transgression, presence, resonance, vibration, new worlds, and poetry. She has collaborated with artists such as Alain Platel, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Brett Bailey, Jan Dekeyser, Xavier Lukomsky, Jörgen Teller, Sammy Baloji, Doris Bloom, Valerie Oka, Pitched Klunchun, Chen Wu-kang, Fallon Mayanja, Terrie Ex, Heidi Kvelvane, The Post Collective, Ignaz Schick, Laura Leiner, Marina Cyrino, and Matthias Koole. Her work has been presented in projects such as Dark Speeches, Invisible Cities, and Small Metal Gods. She is a member of PlaygroundBerliM and has received a Bunkacho Fellowship (Japan), the Danish International Visiting Artist grant, and a residency at Wiels. She works with experimental drums and percussion, pocket trumpet, shō, and electronics.
