Mohamad Al Rashi

Mohamad Al Rashi

is a Syrian actor, director, and musician. He graduated from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus in 1995 and has been based in Marseille, France since 2014.

His theatre work spans internationally acclaimed productions and extensive touring. Notable performances include While I Was Waiting (2016) by Mohammad Al Attar, directed by Omar Abussada, which toured major festivals and venues across Europe, North America, and Japan. In 2017, he performed in Your Love Is Fire by Mudar Alhaggi, directed by Rafat Alzakout, followed by a European tour. He also appeared in UR (2018), written and directed by Suleiman Al Bassam, presented at the Residenztheater in Munich and the Carthage Theatre Festival. In 2019, he directed and performed Chronicles of a City We Never Knew by Wael Kadour.

He has also collaborated with independent theatre groups, including Suit 42, performing in Existence directed by Lydia Ziemke. Since 2016, he has been a co-founder of the Collective Ma’louba, alongside Amal Omran, Mudar Alhaggi, and Wael Kadour, based at Theater an der Ruhr. Within this collective, he has developed and performed in several productions, including Your Love Is Fire, Days in the Sun, Return of Danton, Up There, and The Long Shadow of Alois Brunner.

Alongside his theatre career, Al Rashi has appeared in numerous films, including Handarbeit – Cover Up (2018) by Marie-Amélie Steul, The Hangar (2019) by Eyas Al Mokdad, Xoftex (2021) by Noaz Deshe, The Return (2021) by Meyar Al Roumi, Les Indésirables (2022) by Ladj Ly, and The Green Border (2023) by Agnieszka Holland. His recent work includes Un Autre Verre D’Arak (2026) by Zain Bouch and Die Reise (2026) by Salar Othman.
