▪️Zeynep Ayşe Hatipoğlu and Ulrike Ruf are a Berlin-based cello duo▪️
They have been creating music and organising concerts since 2024. Their music develops from exploring the similarities and differences in their musical backgrounds—Hatipoğlu from Istanbul and Ruf from Berlin—and centres on improvised music while moving between experimental, contemporary, and Turkish makam music.
In 2024, they performed at Salt Beyoğlu in Istanbul, held an improvisation workshop, and played at venues in Berlin such as the Exploratorium and Richten25. They are the co-organisers of the ‘Friday Evening Improvisation at the Cemetery Chapel’ series, which aims to create new spaces for experimental music in Berlin. They are currently working on their first duo album.
